Secure Dog Fields to Hire near South East London

Exploring the great outdoors with our dogs is one of life's simple joys. However, for those with energetic pups, runaways, and shy or reactive dogs, finding safe and secure environments to let them roam freely can be a challenge. Enter enclosed private dog fields – the answer to worry-free walks. Dog fields to hire are the VIP training spots for our furry pals! With safety fences keeping the chaos out, trainers can buckle down on teaching tricks without any sneaky squirrel interruptions. It's the perfect playground for mastering new tricks or helping your dogs enjoy peaceful offlead time in a controlled environment.

Despite the many wonderful green spaces South London has to offer, unfortunately private hire spaces aren’t on the list so we’ve had to travel a little for these but boy oh boy are they worth it. In this blog post, we're uncovering the benefits they offer and sharing tips on how to find and make the most of these hidden gems for your four-legged friends enjoyment.

# 1. Mutley's Crew, Biggin Hill

This one is HUGE, set on a six acre open field with an 8 foot perimeter fence. The car park is safe and private with further secure gating into the field. Monday-Friday it's a dog daycare facility and on Saturday mornings there is an off-lead socialisation class, at all other times it is available to hire by the hour.

Great for:

Running & playing fetch

Sniffing and exploring

Training large distances

Facilities

Shelter and seating for the humans

Fresh water tap and bowls

Portaloo with provisions

Floodlights (portable)

CCTV for security

What we love

The size! Whether you have a runner, sniffer, or an athlete in training, you can make this space work for you. It is mostly a flat open field though there is shrubbery on some of the perimeter for dogs to sniff and hide out of sight; don't worry, this has been proof tested by Alfred Beag!

I'd like it more if

There were more trees and natural shelter and shade.

Price

A tiered system based on how many dogs you bring along

£12.00 up to Six Dogs

£16.00 up to Eight Dogs

£20.00 up to Ten Dogs

Opening Hours

You can book as early as 6am and as late as 9pm

The field is not available to hire Monday-Friday between 11am-3pm or on Saturdays 9am-2pm due to it being a working doggy daycare, and active socialisation classes (also worth attending).

Address

Layhams Road BR2 6AR

You'll find them at the junction meeting King Henrys Drive. Don't rely on Sat Nav if using only a postcode. Look out for an orange container in the car park and MUTLEYS CREW sign on the fence.

# 2. Humphrey's Happy Hounds, Romford

This is a lovely little hidden gem set over a mix of 2 acre open field and wooded space. There are horses kept in the neighbouring fields though the fencing is excellent for removing visual of them.

Great for:

Sniffing and exploring

Training recall, and scentwork

Facilities

Shelter and seating for the humans

Fresh water tap and bowls

Dog Waste Bin

CCTV for security

What we loved

All of it! Out of all the fields, this is the most interesting environment for my dogs. It replicates a woodland setting and allows them freedom to move around and sniff.

I'd like it more if...

they were open longer and you could take more dogs.

# 3. The Acres, Swanley

The Acres is set within a busy public park, Swanley Park, and access to it is via an open public footpath. The parking is a nearby pay to park public car park. and access to the field is via short footpath (maximum 2 minute walk). There is a low privacy screen attached to the fence to give you some privacy from the park users but if your dog is easily distracted or reactive then this maybe isn't the place to go.

The field is on a slight slope. We visited during spring when we'd had some truly dreadful rainfall and the place was an absolute bog; this was advertised on the website at the time so we were well informed in advance. We couldn't really use the field and ended up pretty much hanging out at the top corner where it was dry'ish until I gave up and left.

There is a sister site in Hildenborough which looks to be a lot more private though we have not visited.

Great for:

Agility & playing fetch

Training: specifically distractions

Facilities

Shelter and seating for the humans

Fresh water tap and bowls

Dog Waste Bin

CCTV for security

Small Agility Setup

What we loved

Booking is easy and affordable and there's lots of availability

Security/Fencing is excellent

You can take up to 15 dogs

I'd like it more if

It had safe access from the car park

It had more in the field, trees, shrubs etc to create privacy and sniff zones

Price

£10 for 55 minutes*

*up to 15 dogs at any one time

Opening Hours

7 Days a Week 08:00 – 18:00

Address

# 4. Biggin Hill Bark, Biggin Hill

This is another well fenced, plain space field, with open visual of everything around it. To access it; park on the main road and walk down the public footpath OR make prior accommodations when booking to drive onto the neighbouring farm where they can open up the gates to drive into the field. There is a public footpath that runs along the one side of the field and it was pretty busy with dog walkers, and the next door neighbours are a field full of Alpacas. There is no screening to block anything off.

It was a gorgeous day when we visited so I think that's the only reason I liked this more than The Acres as ultimately they are both just plain square fields with awkward access for reactive dogs or large groups. My dogs aren't chase the ball types so open spaces can be boring to them; they like to sniff and explore.

Great for:

Running & playing fetch

Training: specifically distractions, and reactivity to livestock

Facilities

Seating for the humans

Bottled water and bowls

Dog Waste Bin

CCTV for security

Small climbing and sniffing setup

What we loved

Big open space to play ball and work on training

I'd like it more if

There were more trees for shade and sniffing

# 5. Secure Dog Walking Field, Surrey

This is the ultimate top tier secure dog field. There are four different fields to choose from and each one is more of an immersive experience than a field. We LOVED going here and if it wasn't so far away we'd be there every single week.

Each field has it's own entrance and theme. We have visited them all and loved every single one.

Pictures: Riverrun, March 2024

Field 1: Lakeside

A lovely 6 acre field fully fenced to 6ft with natural agility and a lake for doggy swimming. There is a picnic bench by the lake and you are able to drive inside the field onto a hard standing parking area (2 car capacity) and release from your vehicle.

Field 2: Silver Birch

Another 6 acre field fully fenced to 6ft with natural agility and a small natural pool for dogs to play in. The pool is fenced off if you would rather your dog doesn’t get wet. Silver Birch has 2 seating areas at either end of the field and a copse of Silver Birch trees on a raised bund and bracken for interest. There is a dedicated field access which takes you to a fully fenced hard standing parking area (3 car capacity) which connects the parking to the field.

Field 3: The Oaks

A stunning field with giant Oak trees, Silver Birches, evergreens, an apple and pear orchard, 2 seating areas and agility equipment which you are welcome to use. Our equipment includes Adams agility jumps, an A Frame, Dog Walk, Hoopers tunnel and 12 weaves. Our equipment is professionally made aluminum and rubber coated with light weight approved jumps. You can drive inside the field onto hard standing and release directly from your vehicle and there is space for 5 cars.

Field 4: Riverrun

2.5 acre field fully fenced to 6ft with trees, a small summerhouse for shelter and a lake for doggy swimming. You are able to drive inside the field (2 car capacity) and release from your vehicle.
